The Better-IS Information System (IS) out now!

The IS implemented at the Better-iS homepage will be structured around “fact sheets” which will include edited information of all outputs for the interested reader. The factsheets do include various sections which are aiming at specific recipients. Via boxes on the webpage IS section \\\"policy recommendations\\\" in short as well as specific information for practicioners (extension workers and their coordinators) will be accessable directly. The factsheet itself will additionally serve as gateway to access links toward the original documents (reports, papers, etc.). This will enable researchers and other to get most crompehensive information generated by Better-iS.

Assessment of the Better-iS project by Director Food Security Programme Tanzania

Mr. Mtambo, Director of Food Security Programme, in his opening speech of the final Better-iS conference between the 5th and the 6th December 2011 in Bagamoyo, Tanzania: \" Better-iS [...] does potentially help us to sharpen our lately published biofuel guidelines. The project collected detailed data for biofuel production potential analysis, which is even more valuable to us as bioenergy is still part of our future energy supply. Although contested in the last years, we are confident that our biofuel guidelines do represent an adequate step-by-step process to maximise the positive outcomes to our farmers on the one hand by, at the same time, protecting them from the so-called “land grabbing” which is taking place in so many countries on this continent as I speak. We need those information from Better-iS to support our development strategies as diversifying energy sources is an important part of improving adaptive capacity in many regions in Tanzania. We are curious to learn from the final report. \"
